Our jobs, our livelihood, THE “WHY” BEHIND WHAT WE DO is centered around student-athlete development. We are not working with just athletes, but students-athletes who want to succeed in sports, in the classroom, and life after college athletics.

Our goal is to help our student-athletes reach their absolute potential, both in and out of competition. Our staff is dedicated to researching, designing, and utilizing safe and effective methodologies in sports performance to ensure the health and well-being of each athlete. Our training is year round. It progresses in difficulty and complexity throughout the student-athlete’s career to allow for improvements in both athleticism and on-field performance. We are devoted to improving student-athlete physical development through general and specific sports performance training methods, and individualized training plans.
As a department, communication is a priority. Our Sports Performance staff maintains open lines of communication among student-athletes, coaches, sports medicine, administration, as well as nutrition and behavior health. Our integrated approach to performance is in place to provide the student-athlete access to all of the resources that reinforce our commitment to performance excellence. Our sports performance staff will continue to uphold the tradition of excellence at Duke University.
